This is the official website for the
One-Zone Parking for Whitby campaign. North Yorkshire County Council has revealed proposals for the future of parking in Whitby. As well as being mind-bogglingly complicated, we believe that they will:

Hundreds of Whitby residents and local business owners have already signed our petition. We urge you to do the same.
If you would like paper petitions in order to collect signature, please contact us. You can also download them – see How you can help below. To find out more about the proposals, visit the NYCC website. There is also a questionnaire on that website – if you disagree with the proposals make sure you use that opportunity to let the council know. Or call into the Whitby Tourist Information Centre where you'll find information as well as the questionnaire. To learn more about our objections, scroll down. |
WHAT'S WRONG WITH NYCC'S PARKING PROPOSALS?
How you can help.
ONLINE PETITION: There are lots of ways you can get involved. For a start, you can sign our online petition. You'll find it here. You can share it online via Facebook and Twitter from there.
PAPER PETITION: You can also download a version of the petition for printing out. That way you can get the signatures of your friends, family and neighbours. This is very useful for getting older members of the community (some of whom don't use the internet) to sign. These proposals are going to affect the elderly very badly. They need a voice too! COMPLETE THE QUESTIONNAIRE: Even if you've signed our petition, it's really important that you also complete the official questionnaire on the the NYCC website or at Whitby Tourist Information (TIC). Make sure you fill it in and state that you support the One-Zone for Whitby campaign. If there happens to be a councillor present at the TIC, speak to them and let them know how you feel!
GET ACTIVE: We need people to help us take the campaign onto the streets. Very soon we are going into busy areas of town where we will ask people to sign the petition. And we'd like your help. The more of us who are out there making sure that as many residents as possible understand the issues, the more successful we will be. Drop us a line to find out more. |
WINDOW POSTERS: Download our poster and put it in your window at home where people can see it from the street. If you own or work in a business in a busy part of town, put it where passers-by will see it.
SPREAD THE WORD: Join our Facebook page and share our posts with your friends. Tweet about the campaign, and talk to people who don't use the internet as much. The more people who know about the campaign, the more chance of success we have.
CONTACT YOUR COUNCILLORS: Send an email to your councillors and tell them why you support the One-Zone for Whitby campaign. Cllr Joe Plant – [email protected] (Streonshalh and West Cliff) Cllr David Chance – [email protected] (Mayfield) WRITE TO YOUR MP: Tell Robert Goodwill MP why you are unhappy with the NYCC parking proposals and ask him to support One-Zone for Whitby campaign. Email him at [email protected] |
